I love turning old, crappy, used stuff into things I like. Hence, my love of compost and trying to upcycle clothing from thrift store finds. This is also good because I live in a small town and dress like a weird hippy a little different than most people here, so I have to make some of my stuff. Apart from few locally owned businesses, shopping here is pretty dismal (one word. Walmart, ugh). It's also great to be reusing something to help out mama earth.
This week got pretty cold here, it was -6C This morning. While this may be a balmy winter day in most of Canada, here on the west coast it's frickin freezing! Even though this cold might kill the last of the kale in the garden I still love it! The snow and sun is a welcome break from the usual constant rain and grey of winter here. I had this old vest from the sally-ann that I thought would make a warm skirt so this morning while the kiddies ate their breaky I did a little chopping and sewing. I had already felted it a bit in the wash, and probably should have put it through one more time, but I'm a "good enough, art isn't supposed to be perfect" kinda gal. So, here it is! Warm woolie skirt for our brief cold snap (supposed to turn back to rain by the weekend boooo!)
